- The breast cancer survivor, 46, who is married to entrepreneur Bill Rancic, 50, was diagnosed at 36 years old and has inspired many women facing difficulty having children: they had son Duke, 8, via a surrogate.
- Rancic told SurvivorNet in a prior interview that cancer is not a one-size-fits-all disease, and everyone’s journey is uniquely different. Having a supportive partner, friend, or family member can also make a huge difference in dealing with the darker days on your journey.

The fashion designer is also fortunate to have a loving partner and friend. Hubby Bill Rancic, 50, is an entrepreneur from Chicago, which is where the couple reside with their 8-year-old son, Duke.
Giuliana and Bill, who used to have their own reality TV show of the same name, have been married for 14 years, and have shared ups and downs that many survivors can relate to.

Giuliana’s Breast Cancer Journey
Rancic was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in 2011, and underwent a double mastectomy for treatment. Rancic told SurvivorNet in a prior interview that she was initially shocked by the news, since there was no history of breast cancer in her family.
The diagnosis made her an advocate for cancer research, and in 2012 Rancic founded Fab-U-Wish, an initiative dedicated to granting wishes of breast cancer patients. Rancic also opened up to SurvivorNet about her support for cancer patients considering fertility preservation. Rancic said that she and her husband were trying to conceive and she was having fertility issues before her breast cancer diagnosis. In 2012, their son was born through a surrogate.
Giuliana Rancic’s Advice for Those Going Through Cancer
"Breast cancer is not a one-size-fits-all disease," Rancic told SurvivorNet during a wide-ranging interview about her experience with the disease.
She was diagnosed when she was just 36 years old. Now as a 10-year survivor, she recently shared some advice for others going through the cancer journey and much of it involves advocating for your own health, and seeking out the best care that is available to you.

"It's so important to be proactive about your health and to take your health into your own hands," she said. "I know sometimes it's intimidating … you feel like your doctor is really busy, they have so many appointments to go to, but you have all these questions. Go in with the questions prepared or in your phone, so you can easily access them and ask those questions that are important to you."
