How Effective Is Proton Beam Therapy For Prostate Cancer?

Proton beam therapy is a relatively new form of radiation that’s marketed heavily. According to Dr. James Brooks, Chief of Urologic Oncology at Stanford Medicine, “the best available data suggests it is no better than conventional radiation therapy.”

It’s also expensive. Dr. Brooks says it costs “well over $100,00 for treatment and it’s gonna be hard to show that it’s worth all that extra money.” Others might disagree.
