Beth Chapman, wife of bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman, is scheduled for her first public appearance since her lung cancer diagnosis this Mother’s Day at The Source Church in Bradenton, and the anticipation is enormous.
“Join Beth Chapman for Mother’s Day, as she shares a message of hope, faith and of a Mother’s highest place of honor,” reads the church’s Facebook post about the event. “This will be her first public speaking engagement since her cancer diagnosis, and she has chosen The Source Church family to share it with. Join us, along with her husband Dog, for this highly anticipated message.”
Read MoreIt’s especially reassuring that Beth, a mom of four, three of whom she shares with Dog, is gearing up for a public appearance after her recent, cancer-related hospitalization. After a buildup of fluid in her lungs created a lot of pressure, doctors performed an operation to help relieve the pain.
"Doctors performed an emergency procedure to alleviate pressure that had built up. She is now at home resting with her husband. She and [husband Duane "Dog" Chapman] are so grateful for the thoughts and prayers from their fans. Keep them coming," Dog wrote in a statement at the time.
The most common kind of fluid buildup that can happen during lung cancer is what is called "pleural effusion," or fluid buildup around the space between the lungs and the chest wall. When this happens, the fluid can push on the lungs and create a lot of pressure.
Beth, 51, also posted on Instagram about a separate Mothers Day event– a concert involving “DJ Snoopadelic” and “DJ Lantern”, according to the post, which she captioned, “Y’all be there.”
A woman of deep faith, Beth has said that she’s leaning on religion to ease her cancer journey. She frequently invokes God and Jesus Christ in her postings on social media.
Her fans have commented in support of her Mothers’ Day plans and with wishes for her health. “Happy early Mothers Day. Wishing many healing blessings,” one wrote. “I'm your biggest fan ever!! You are my inspiration!! I want to be like you when I am older!! God bless you and your family girly!!â¤ï¸” commented another.
Beth was initially diagnosed with throat cancer in 2017. She had surgery, and was declared cancer free. But in 2018, Beth learned that her cancer had spread to the lungs and had moved to stage four, after she was rushed to the hospital for difficulty with her breathing.
Since her cancer diagnosis, Beth and her husband Dog have stayed committed to each other and to the bounty hunting life. Dog has routinely voiced his strong support and love for Beth on social media, at one point even declaring Beth "property of Dog".
Dog even bought her flowers to show his love on her first day of shooting on their new show after cancer. “So I came in the kitchen this afternoon to have our cast and crew lunch before we start shooting today and they brought me these most beautiful flowers!” Beth wrote in a recent Instagram post. “I'm grateful for each and ever person who is out here you know the struggle. These were unexpected and very appreciated. Loving the way I started my day.”
"Dog's Most Wanted", now being actively shot, will see Beth and Dog tracking down suspects from the most wanted lists of organizations such as the FBI and the U.S. Marshals. The series will air on WGN.
"America has been captivated by Duane, Chapman and their dramatic true-crime experiences for over a decade," WGN announced. "In this brand new series, millions of the couple's fans will join them on bigger hunts, pursuing more dangerous criminals, with a supporting cast of tough as nails crime fighters.
