No matter which way you look at it, pretty much everyone who is diagnosed with cancer says the disease changed their life in some way. Surprisingly, a lot of people say that the disease — and the wake-up call it brought with it — actually helped them to change their life for the better. Tracy White is one of those survivors.
MORE FROM TRACY: DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR SUPPORT
Read More “I radically changed every part of my life,” Tracy said. “From little things like my deodorant, to giant things like leaving cooperate America and changing houses because mine was making me ill and toxic.” Tracy was
diagnosed with stage 1B cervical cancer in 2012, and her cancer recurred a few years later. She said that the cancer and subsequent recurrence really acted as a wake-up call to show her that she needed to change certain aspects of her life. “I was on the American go-go-go path, and I needed a really big wake-up call to show me what was really important, and that’s my family,” Tracy said. “And now, finding this life mission to help other people survive the illness and heal themselves.” Tracy said one of the areas that she tackles when trying to help others is the typical American workaholic attitude (which she used to be very familiar with herself). She told SurvivorNet that even though her diagnosis could have been devastating, she considers the lessons she learned about life and time-management to be a blessing.
