Amy Untch was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer when she was 33 years old. Amy, a schoolteacher, says her three children gave her more than enough reason to fight the disease with everything she had. And now, she appreciates life more than ever. Even when [my children] are screaming and crying, I’m glad they’re screaming and crying,” Amy says. “I’m glad I’m there to fight with my fourteen-year-old over what she’s wearing. I appreciate those little moments.”
Her advice to mothers: Give yourself a break when you’re going through treatment and don’t feel guilty about the time spent away from your children. Because getting better is the goal so you can be always be there for them.
