But the next morning, the truck was gone. "And the rest is history," he added, literally of the family’s items, not feeling so positive that they’ll ever get them back.
Mental Health: Maintaining a Positive Headspace
"They take it. They either sell it or use it. They destroy the truck. We have not heard," Lashbrook said. "It's been four days. I still have the keys."
"Anything you lose that is something that's very personal, particularly going through cancer, yeah, it's a loss, and you know it has no value on the street or on eBay," Lashbrook continued. "The vulnerability was my naiveté. I just didn't put together it was a target.
The deflated father wants to remind others to be more on alert these days so that the same thing does not happen to them.
"They're very discreet. They know what they're doing,” he shared. “They're very professional, and I found out, unfortunately, after all this happened how common this is," Lashbrook said.
The truck was eventually found by police, but sadly, and expectedly, its contents had been emptied out.
Hopefully, somehow those items will find their way back to the Lashbrook family. The most important thing that matters is that daughter Amy is still living and breathing, and the family gets to cherish more memories together, and many more milestones to come.
