Read MoreDr. Kampel pointed out that in the Harlem community — which is primarily made up of black and Hispanic residents — the Center aims to raise awareness about things like prevention and screening. He works particularly with prostate cancer — and said that African-American men are twice as likely to not only get the disease, but to die from it. This is why prevention and screening are key. Dr. Kampel said that the disparities are going down — but there’s still much work to do.
