UCSF Health

Jacob Young, MD is a neurosurgeon treating patients with brain tumors, including low- and high-grade gliomas, meningiomas and brain metastases. Dr. Young specializes in brain mapping techniques that identify areas important for motor, language and sensory functions, enabling surgeons to minimize the impact on these areas during surgery to remove a tumor. Dr. Young’s research interests include first-in-human early-phase clinical trials of new immunotherapies and the development of innovative ways to deliver treatment to cancerous brain tumors. His lab focuses on understanding the microenvironment of glioma and how it contributes to intratumoral heterogeneity, treatment resistance, and progression.

Dr. Young received his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and completed a residency in neurosurgery at UCSF.
