Living With CLL

Much of that change has been driven by the development of targeted therapies, namely a type known as BTK inhibitors. Doctors can now choose between several BTK inhibitors and tailor treatment based on a person’s overall health, lifestyle, and preferences.

“It’s definitely moved away from anything being chemotherapy‑centered,” says Dr. Soyoung “Sara” Park, a malignant hematologist with Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Phoenix. “These treatments have much more limited toxicity compared to what’s been used in the past.”
