How are you spending time at home during coronavirus? If you’re Rita Wilson, apparently it involves collaborating with iconic 90’s hip-hop trio Naughty By Nature and raising money for Covid-19 relief.
In an effort to make fans smile, actress and breast cancer survivor Rita Wilson, 63, shared an Instagram video of her and Naughty By Nature’s “Hip Hop Hooray” remix, and she gave quite the performance. According to Wilson’s post, she initially learned the song while in the cast of 2019 film Boy Genius.Read More
Wilson’s performance of “Hip Hop Hooray” apparently drew the attention of Naughty By Nature themselves, and they approached Wilson to do an official remix to raise money for nonprofit MusiCares’ Covid-19 relief fund.

Hip Hop Hooray is like modern day Shakespeare. I originally learned the song for one of the most fun roles I ever played in the film Boy Genius. It took me a month to learn because it’s so complex and nuanced; it was like training for a marathon. The rhythms and tempos are so unique and creative. When I was quarantined and recovering from COVID-19 I wanted to see if I still remembered it, kind of like a brain exercise. To my surprise I did. I thought it would be fun to put it on my Instagram to show people I was doing okay and to make them smile. When @naughtybynature4ever commented about it, I couldn’t believe it. What a joy to be doing this remix with legends of the Hip-Hop world. I’m forever grateful for their generosity of spirit and for being able to raise money together for @musicares COVID-19 Relief Fund. Hit the link in my bio to listen to it and donate on YouTube! Rita Wilson’s Battle With Breast Cancer And Covid-19
Wilson was diagnosed with stage zero breast cancer in 2015, which is a non-invasive early cancer that is very treatable. To prevent the cancer from possibly spreading, she underwent a bilateral mastectomy — a surgical procedure that removes both breasts. Since, she’s been cancer-free.
However, Wilson’s health risks didn’t stop there. During a trip to Australia, Wilson announced that she and her husband Tom Hanks had tested positive for coronavirus, and were self-quarantined while being examined by medical workers. Well, that didn’t stop Wilson from trying to make the most out of a bad situation. In addition to practicing “Hip Hop Hooray,” the actress also shared her phone number with fans so she could pass the time during quarantine.
How To Cope With Stress During Covid-19
In uncertain times, people can feel particularly stressed about the future. However, there are ways to help mental health during the coronavirus pandemic, and it’s a lot easier than one might think.
“In mix of Covid-19 we are all facing the same questions,” Dr. Marianna Strongin, a clinical psychologist and founder of Strong In Therapy, told SurvivorNet. “Some are facing them much more than others and some are better at answering those questions than others. What’s really important is to pay attention to is what those questions are, what the frequency of those questions are, and how you’re answering them.”
