Feeling Crystal Clear
- Actress and mom Jessica Alba has always been a crystal-enthusiast, and believes in the powers that energy healing brings, but she has been leaning on them extra hard throughout the past year.
- The Honest Company founder wrote on her Instagram that she was feeling the vibes of last night’s supermoon, and is ready for a reset.
- Cancer survivor Kara Ladd’s energy healing took her down a spiritual path, and whether you believe in this sort of thing or not, it can’t hurt to reset the mind and aim for a more positive focus or higher power to help you through your cancer journey.
She’s of course referring to the first supermoon of 2021, which debuted Monday. (A supermoon is a full moon or new moon that is closest to the earth.)

Whether or not you believe in the powers of crystals, which are said to promote positive energy and healing, it is a chance to do your own type of cleansing, whether it’s purging bad emotional energy or attempting to take on a more optimistic approach with a health battle.
"I love crystalsthey hold so much power and energy," Alba, who even came out with a lip gloss line inspired by crystals, said in a 2020 interview. "I'm not an expert by any means, but I've been really curious about this space. I've been learning a lot about how you can harness that energy, what type of meaning each crystal holds, and what they can do for your holistic health and well-being."
Alba says that work makes her feel the most anxious and “the most rattled,” so she has a ritual that she does before her back-to-back Zoom meetings. “I burn Palo Santo, and I have affirmation cards, and things like that. I also sometimes need my crystals by my bed, and sometimes I put them around pictures of my kids."

It certainly can’t hurt to focus on something beautiful and comforting, whether they truly have a positive affect on those in their presence or not. Alba’s father, Mark Alba, just recently went through thyroid cancer, and has stayed positive, saying that he would “slay” his cancer. So far it looks like her “papasito” is doing great, announcing on his Instagram that he found out that he had “kicked cancer’s booty.”
Energy Healing and Cancer
Cancer survivor Kara Ladd thinks it’s really important to be open to different therapies and different modalities while on your cancer journey.
“Honestly, the first time I felt safe was at my first Reiki session,” she tells SurvivorNet. “It was the first day of my chemo session, and a sarcoma survivor introduced energy healing to me. She didn’t really call it Reiki. And she was like, ‘it’s kind of out there, hippy, woo-woo. But just give it one try and see how you like it.’ And I did.”
Ladd says that her energy healer really calmed her down and told her that her “soul chose this path,” and she’s “on this path for a reason.”
“So it was an entirely vision-inducing, cathartic experience,” she explains. “Like, I feel like my heart was literally cracked open. And I felt lighter and more present than ever before. And so that was kind of the spiritual tipping point for me.”
After Ladd’s Reiki session, she dove into other rituals, like meditation, “so that could mentally detach from my chemo, my treatment, and my cancer.”
