The role of radiation when it comes to treating ovarian cancer is changing. Dr. Subhakar Mutyala, a Radiation Oncologist at Arizona Oncology told SurvivorNet that it’s becoming more and more common to treat patients who have a small amount of metastasized disease (cancer that has spread to distant parts of the body) with radiation.
For ovarian cancer, the go-to treatment is usually chemotherapy either before or after surgery. Radiation would be added if there is a persistent tumor, or if your cancer goes into remission, but then returns.
