Sharon Galvin is a mom, a retired cop, and a melanoma survivor. She’s always had a game plan no matter what life threw at her. It was no different when she was diagnosed with cancer. And along the way, she learned that the love you feel from other people who are going through something similar is truly amazing.
During her interview with SurvivorNet, Sharon got emotional discussing an experience she had at a doctor’s office when she was participating in a clinical trial. “When I went for my last clinical trial treatment, I had my children with me … so I told them you need to stay here and you need to behave,” Sharon says. “I met with the doctors and found out that it was in fact working, and I walked out the doors and my daughter and my son jumped up from their chair to see me. And I gave them a thumbs up, and they started to clap. And the whole waiting room started to clap. The warmth and the love you feel from others that are going through something similar was outstanding.”
