November has become a hairy month thanks to No-Shave November and Movember, two campaigns that encourage men to love their facial hair to raise awareness of men’s health issues. Social media is flooded with photos showing the results and, now, we think we’ve found the winner: A group of San Antonio Police Department officers who went all in.

The department elaborated on its Facebook page: “Last year, #SAPD raised nearly $48,000!”
The department has participated in No Shave November for a few years now, according to local station News 4 San Antonio. Last year, the funds raised were donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society — a charitable organization dedicated to fighting blood cancer.
The department’s friends and fans on Facebook were quick to offer praise to the officers.
“As a Cancer Survivor[,] I'm Blessed to have someone that contributes to this cause. Thank you! SAPD,” commented one user named Maria.
“Bunch of handsome men there. Thank you all for your service and thank you for helping with cancer research,” chimed in another, who goes by the handle Bee Rha.
What Are the November Men’s Health Campaigns All About?
No Shave November, which focuses on cancer, asks participants to let their hair grow “wild and free,” while donating the money they would have spent shaving and grooming to “educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.”

The Movember organization zeroes in on prostate and testicular cancer, men’s mental health and suicide prevention. It funds over 1,000 health projects and, last year, it raised $18.4 million.
Both organizations also aim to raise awareness about the screening methods available that can catch such cancers early — and ultimately save lives.
How Can I Get Involved?
No Shave November participants can set up their own fundraising pages, and those who, well, don’t have facial hair or are a bit too attached to their razors can donate via a friend’s page instead.
Movember and No Shave November also have options to donate directly on their websites.
