The merriment that surrounds the holiday season can be a little much for people facing a cancer diagnosis or treatment to handle. Jill Kargman’s message to those who are suffering is – just know you’re not alone. “There is a community out there for you, to keep you company through this,” Jill says. However, not everybody has the support they need from family, and friends, and not everybody is a big fan of cancer support groups. A lot of survivors tell us the real challenge is finding your people. And once you do, you need to feel comfortable asking for help – if you need it.
Jill is writer and an actress, and she’s also a cancer survivor herself. She was diagnosed with melanoma shortly after giving birth to her third child, and she had a prophylactic mastectomy after learning that she had a genetic mutation that increased her risk of getting breast cancer.
