Concerns about physical appearance and body image after cancer treatment are very common among women, says Dr. Elizabeth Comen, a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering and a SurvivorNet advisor. But Dr. Comen says she reassures patients all the time: “When everything is said and done, when chemo is over, when there’s been some distance from the treatment that they’ve had, they don’t look abnormally older than we otherwise would expect them to look,” she says.
