Dr. Nick Gonzalez Castro, a neurologist and neuro-oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute within Brigham and Women’s Hospital, feels privileged to work in Boston, Massachusetts, and to treat patients with the support of an exceptional team of colleagues.
Dr. Castro, also an assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, tells SurvivorNet, “Boston is a special place because not only we have tremendously skilled clinicians, patients that are directly caring for patients, neuro oncologists, radiation oncologists, neurosurgeons, neuropathologists, but also we have a number of incredibly smart and dedicated scientists that are working in the back end of things, perhaps never meeting a patient face-to-face, but developing in-depth and really broad knowledge about different aspects of tumor biology and helping inform potential avenues for therapy and helping advance treatments that we can bring to patients.”

Dr. Castro then remarked how it’s truly a wonderful experience to work alongside so many colleagues who are “genuinely committed to advancing brain tumor care,” especially within such a close-knit community.
“There are a number of institutions, my institution, and neighboring hospitals that are wonderful universities we have in Boston. There are a number of individuals at all of these places that are really committed to advancing brain tumor care, and I just feel very privileged to be a part of that.”
