Most people who have lived with cancer can tell you, having support from friends and loved ones makes a world of difference. In fact, Lunden says, she and Gibson still talk today. He’s a good friend to have in your corner, she says.
“I am so lucky to have spent so many years working, not next to, but with an amazing guy like Charlie Gibson,” she says. “We get together, now and then. And if something terrible happens, that’s the friend that will be there for you. That’s the kind of guy Charlie Gibson is.”
The two hosted GMA together for a decade before Lunden left in 1997. Still, she says, he’s still got her back to this day — almost like a brother.
