Becca Kufrin's Plea To Fans
- Former Bachelorette Becca Kufrin asked fans to pray, and possibly donate to a GoFundMe, for her close friend Sandy who is battling pancreatic cancer
- Kufrin lost her father, Steve, to brain cancer in 2009
- All donations to the GoFundMe will go towards Sandy’s medical expenses
Becca Kufrin won over all our heart’s on her season of The Bachelorette, but now she’s asking for our help. In an emotional video, Kufrin revealed a family friend that she’s known her whole life is battling pancreatic cancer, and is rallying support to help her get through treatment.
On her Instagram story, Kufrin, 30, fought back tears and shared with fans that while being back home visiting her mother she found out their neighbor, Sandy, had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Kufrin lost her father, Steve, to brain cancer in 2009, so she clearly knows the impact this disease has on families.
“Okay, it’s no surprise I’m back at my mom’s house for a little bit,” Kufrin says in her Instagram story. “Unfortunately, we found out two weeks ago that my neighbor, Sandy, who I’ve literally known my entire life and who has been my mom’s support system after my dad died… she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.”

Kufrin continued to say that Sandy has set up a GoFundMe to help fund her pancreatic cancer treatment. So far, the page has raised nearly $8,000 out of its $10,000 goal. According to the fundraiser, Sandy cannot continue working since she’s going through chemotherapy every other week, and each donation will go towards covering her medical expenses.
“I’m roping in all of the troops for prayers…if anyone can help out and donate even $1, or $5, anything,” Kufrin continued. “Anything is so appreciated. Thank you.”

Support is Critical During Cancer Treatment
It’s scary to tell your friends and family that you have cancer, but by letting them know, they are often your biggest support system. Some people may think they can take on treatment by themselves, but survivors have shared how important loved ones were while during treatment.
This was the case for cervical cancer survivor Tracy White, who had to slow down her fast-paced lifestyle after her diagnosis. Tracy shared with SurvivorNet that the experience was the first time she ever asked for help, and even though it was difficult to do, it helped her tremendously — emotionally, physically, and even financially.

“All of the medical costs as well as the alternative treatments I was doing were piling up because I was very proud and independent, and I didn’t ever want to ask for money,” Tracy says. “My support group at work was astonishing. The management team rallied around me, my team rallied around me, bosses rallied around Me. They even started a GoFundMe because they didn’t know what to do and they wanted to help. Having that kind of social support from every front of my life just made me feel loved, and supported, and really helped with the healing.”
