“Be grateful for that specific moment, that you’re still here,” Millie says. “And you can make those changes, and make that impact on the people who are around you. Let them see you happy and smile.”
Taking the time to appreciate what you have is solid advice for everyone during the holiday season. But Millie says — especially for people who are fighting this disease — you never know what the future could bring. “Last year, I was very grateful, I was very grateful for everything,” she says. “It was tough, but I would say, just enjoy, appreciate what you have, because things can change in a minute. You just don’t know where this is going to take you.”
