The mom of two, from Salford, U.K., was ultimately diagnosed after getting an MRI scan, which revealed her tumor.

It’s important to understand that Glioblastoma (GBM), which Kehoe was diagnosed with, is the most aggressive and lethal form of primary brain tumor. Classified as a Grade 4 glioma by the World Health Organization (WHO), glioblastoma presents significant challenges for treatment due to its highly invasive nature, rapid growth, and resistance to most conventional therapies.

Kehoe, a school business manager, underwent a debulking operation [a main form of treatment for aggressive brain tumors] last August.

Looking back on her symptoms, she told SWNS that her memory issues began in March 2025, followed by dizzy spells, headaches, and eyesight troubles.

“Because I’d suffered from migraines and vertigo in the past, I put it down to stress rather than illness,” Kehoe, who had also been coping with her dad’s dementia battle, her mom’s kidney cancer diagnosis, and her sister’s heart attack, explained to SWNS.

“I convinced myself that my own symptoms were simply my body’s response to the emotional toll of everything happening around us.”

She saw her doctor in May to discuss her symptoms and was scheduled for an MRI on June 28, 2025. The scan led to further evaluation at the hospital, including blood tests and a neurological exam, which led to her glioblastoma diagnosis.

As per the National Cancer Institute, the average survival rate of glioblastoma is 15 months with treatment and less than six if left untreated. While there is a five-year survival rate of averaging 6 percent, those individuals will never be cancer-free. They must continue receiving radiation and chemotherapy for the rest of their lives.

Kehoe’s daughter Ellie Hutson writes on the fundraising page, “On Friday, the 8th of August, Tracy had surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible, back in September she started radiotherapy and is currently still receiving chemotherapy.

“Sadly, that’s as much treatment as the NHS will offer and this hasn’t changed in the last 20 years. When somebody receives a brain tumor diagnosis of stage 4 Glioblastoma, they are given an average life expectancy of 12-18 months & we want to try and challenge this. Supporting charities, like The Brain Tumour Charity, will support funding for research into new treatments, support for individuals who’ve been.”

In some cancer clinical trials that are “randomized,” patients who enroll are randomly assigned to receive either a placebo or the new experimental drug being studied. If the clinical trial is “double-blinded,” that means that neither the patients nor the doctors running the clinical trial know who’s in which group. This is an important part of a clinical trial design because it safeguards against bias and the possibility of skewed results.
