The Feud Between Prostate Cancer Survivors Elton John & Rod Stewart Have All of the Makings of an 80’s Soap Opera

The two iconic British musicians are in a battle of the snubs after Rod made fun of Elton's farewell tour and his film, "Rocketman."

Elton John and Rod Stewart's Spat

Elton John, who beat prostate cancer in 2017, is on the receiving end of some jabs from fellow British singer, Rod Stewart, who also beat prostate cancer.
Stewart claims that Elton is ignoring him, after Stewart made fun of his film and his tour.
Since beating cancer, both men have been very active and living their lives.

Legendary singer Rod Stewart is feeling snubbed by “Rocketman” Elton John, in a story that has all the makings of a serious soap opera! The two British rockstars, who were once very close, have been at odds for a while. Following the release of Elton's Rocketman film last year, Stewart made fun of it. He also called his farewell tour "money-grabbing" and said that it wasn't very rock-n-roll.

Stewart, who like Elton also beat prostate cancer, has tried to make amends since he poked fun at Elton. Stewart said in an interview with Chris Evans (not the actor!) on his How to Wow podcast that the two "don't talk to each other anymore" and that they had a "big falling out."

Elton ignored an invitation Stewart sent him about attending his children's birthday party. The "Tiny Dancer" singer has been notoriously temperamental in the past, so this comes as no surprise.

Elton and Rod’s Prostate Cancer Journeys

Elton John was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, and subsequently underwent surgery for treatment. Thankfully, the surgery was successful. However, it did lead to a complication ten days after his procedure when Elton got an infection. Stewart is also a survivor of prostate cancer, after being diagnosed in 2017, just like Elton.

Since 2017, Elton has been cancer-free and thriving. He has been hard at work on a variety of projects, like his book, his film, and other pursuits.

He recently announced his plans for his return to the U.S. for a tour in 2022. Fans are itching to get to see him onstage again.

Elton's Past And His Future

Stewart and Elton remain at odds, but Elton thankfully left some other parts of his past behind. Previously, Elton struggled with alcoholism. Like cancer, he was able to beat this disease, and is now 30 years sober, as of this year.

Studies have suggested that alcohol consumption can be linked to cancer. Elton also battled substance abuse in his younger years. It's clear that this man is a survivor of a number of things and so, something tells us he will survive this interpersonal rift, too, and end up just fine.

Both of these legends have overcome so much in their life we are hopeful that they can overcome this friendship feud as well.
